Philosophy and Goals
Building Blocks of Grace Preschool exists to strengthen the development and growth of each child by working with parents in order to enhance the total growth of each child by:
· Developing positive self-image through the knowledge of God’s love
· Bible Stories
· Language
· Arts and crafts
· Music
· Monthly themes
Building Blocks of Grace is a place where your child will share growing experiences of love, laughter, and educational learning.
Ages of Children Attending
Building Blocks of Grace is for preschool children ages two to Pre-Kindergarten.
Admission Policy
Building Blocks of Grace Preschool does not practice any form of discrimination expressed or implied in regards to race, color, creed, religion, or ethnic origin. Our program is open to all children who may benefit with respect to our age requirement policy.
Days and Hours of Operation
Our preschool hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Parents can choose up to five days a week by indicating which day(s) are preferred when you register.
Summer hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Arrival and Pickup
Children may arrive at preschool anytime after 8:50 a.m. Please be respectful of our teachers’ time as they prepare for the day ahead and do not drop your child off too early.
Pick-up time is no later than 1:00 p.m.
Sign In and Out
Each child must be checked in and out by an authorized adult. The check-in kiosk is located at the front desk in the Preschool Building. You will need to sign your child in with your full signature, as well as check-in on the smartcare app.
The authorized person must be at least 18 years of age to check a child in or out.
Always have identification available. It will be mandatory to show I.D. when asked.
In an emergency situation when a parent needs someone other than a person authorized to pick up their child, the parent must give written authorization or verbal authorization over the phone in an extreme emergency. You are also able to send a one-time barcode through the smartcare app via text to an emergency pick up person.
Late Pick-up Fees
Children picked up from preschool after 1:00 pm will be charged $5 for every 15 minutes they are late.
Absences
We plan our program with the assumption that every child will attend their scheduled days. If your child is unable to attend the program for any reason, please notify our office as soon as possible.
Snack and Lunch
Preschool children have appetites that change from day to day. We believe that you know your child's appetite and food choices better than we do, so please bring your child’s lunch along with a light morning snack, on their scheduled day(s). We will inform you of any known food allergies as we are made aware of them. If we have a child with a peanut allergy, please do not send your child with peanut products in their lunch. Also, please do not send microwavable lunches or food that needs to be refrigerated.
Extra Clothes
Please bring a zip lock bag with your child’s name on it and a change of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear/diapers) that we can keep here. Sometimes the kids get dirty with their activities and a change of clothes is necessary. Also, if your child is in diapers, please be sure we have a few extra diapers each day.
Holiday Parties
We will celebrate various holidays throughout the year and tentative party dates are listed on the calendar at the end of this packet. Further information on these parties will be given closer to the dates.
Discipline
We are honored that you have chosen us to partner with you in training your child. Some of the character traits that are taught and demonstrated by our teachers are respect, good manners, responsibility, appreciation, and patriotism.
Positive redirection is our first and foremost choice for a preschool-age child. If a child continually disobeys the rules, the teachers will shadow the child and coach them on how to resolve issues in a non-aggressive way. If the child continues the unacceptable behavior an age-appropriate time out will be given. If the child continues the behavior after coaching and time out or hits or hurts another friend, he/she will be taken to the BBOG director where a discussion of appropriate behavior will take place. The parent will be notified at this time.
In the case of continued aggressive behaviors such as hitting, biting, etc., a parent conference with the teacher and director will be requested to combine efforts for a more agreeable behavior. Our goal is to provide a safe and positive environment for all children. If at any time we feel that we cannot meet the needs of you or your child, we reserve the right to terminate care without prior written notice.
There will be no corporal punishment or violation of personal rights.
No yelling is allowed, unless in an Emergency. Children will not be embarrassed or degraded by any staff at any time.
Sick Children
If your child is ill, please keep him/her at home with you. Here is a list of symptoms:
Fever
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Nasal secretions that are thick yellow or green (not caused by allergies)
Rashes not seen by the doctor
If ANY of the above symptoms have been present in your child within 24 hours of coming to BBOG, please keep your child home. If any symptoms are seen by a teacher, the parent will be called. Please understand that we are trying our best to keep our preschool as sanitary and germ-free as possible.
Medication: If your child should need medication while on campus, you will need to fill out a medication form. All medications will need to be in the original packaging and prescribed by your child’s physician. Medications, with the exception of rescue breathers and epinephrine auto-injectors, will be stored in the director’s office. Rescue breathers, for Asthma and epinephrine auto-injectors for allergic reactions, will be stored in the classroom in a place that is inaccessible to the children. If an epinephrine auto-injector is needed, 911 will be called.
